Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk

1.5km loop rainforest walk.

Elevated walkway

The total walk is 1.5km long through rainforest. We walked from the visitors centre a short distance along a level path which then sloped downhill to the elevated walkway. My 81 year old mother managed the whole walk by taking it slowly down and back up the steeper sections. There was also a seat conveniently located about half way up the slope for a rest stop. Transport to and from the elevated walkway was offered however we declined.  Very handy having a courtesy cart though for anyone who has difficulty walking.

The 500 metre elevated walkway was spectacular with excellent views of the rainforest and valleys.
About halfway along there is Knights Tower which protrudes 45 metres above the rainforest floor and has fantastic views extending all the way to Wollongong. Mum did not climb up the tower. We thought it was a beautiful walk.

Coffee, scones, jam and cream were a perfect ending to the walk.

  1. One and a half kilometres isn't that long and would be a nice weekend out just to get a bit of exercise in. Thanks for sharing this! I may just go check it out myself sometime soon!
